Former airline pilot Terry Tozer comments on the plane crash in South Korea, saying it's "extremely unusual not to be able to use the alternative emergency system for lowering the landing gear". He goes on to say, although a bird strike might have caused an "initial problem" it's hard to understand how it affected the undercarriage.
