For more: https://www.cgtn.com/video Peru was one of the first Latin American countries to establish diplomatic ties and a comprehensive strategic partnership with China, and was the first Latin American country to sign a package of free trade agreements with China. The country is a major destination for Chinese investment under the Belt and Road Initiative, with the flagship Chancay port under construction near Lima to serve as a major trade hub connecting Latin America and Asia known as "Chancay to Shanghai." In this edition of Leaders Talk, CMG's Zou Yun sat down in Beijing with Peruvian President Dina Boluarte during her weeklong state visit to China in late June. Boluarte heaped praise on China's hi-tech, new energy vehicles and high-speed railway system, and hailed "Chancay to Shanghai" as a new nexus for friendly economic and trade bilateral exchanges, saying it will "not only transform Peru but also the Americas." Boluarte looked forward to seeing Chinese President Xi Jinping at this year's Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting to be hosted by Peru, describing him as a great and charismatic leader.
