Trade volume increased by more than 10 times over this period and Arab States have reaped the rewards of China's Belt and Road Initiative, with Egypt's New Administrative Capital standing out as a flagship BRI mega-project. How can China and Arab States seize new opportunities and work together on the road to development and modernization? In this edition of The Hub, Wang Guan sat down with Ahmed Aboul Gheit, secretary-general of the Arab League, to discuss how relations between China and the Arab States have developed over the years on the cultural front and how people-to-people engagement has fostered and deepened mutual understanding. On building a China-Arab States community with a shared future, Gheit notes that people in China and the Arab world will benefit, based on an "already very solid relationship." He praises Chinese President Xi Jinping's global initiatives, hailing him as "a leader and a philosopher." Gheit also calls for wisdom to prevail to bring people together.
