Extortion causing a stink in Western Cape

Extortion threats continue to plague City of Cape Town service delivery projects. Hundreds of millions of rand worth of housing, transport and road infrastructure projects have been stalled in the past two years. Now the city’s Water and Sanitation efforts have been halted in two major areas. The service provider has been threatened and money demanded. The city says this will have a detrimental impact on health and sanitation conditions in the affected communities. eNCA reporter Ayesha Ismail spoke to the city’s Mayco Member for Water and Sanitation, Zahid Badroodien.
