Extreme fire danger for parts of South Australia
A summer-like heatwave is affecting parts of southeastern Australia, prompting fire danger warnings in multiple states this weekend. Speaking to Sky News Australia, SA’s Country Fire Service State Duty Officer James Honner said crews were preparing ahead of the dangerous conditions on Saturday. “Hot dry, windy conditions is the classic combination for us, that gets our crews engaged and ready early in the day, right through today and into tonight,” Mr Honner told Sky News. He added: “Those windy conditions are raising the fire danger across the state for us today and so that’s really the focus for us at the moment.” As temperatures are set to soar up to 39 degrees in Adelaide, Mr Honner urged the community to stay informed about the fire danger. He advised people to keep informed through multiple channels, including radio, websites, and phones.
