‘Extremely dangerous escalation’: Prime Minister condemns Iran’s missile attack on Israel
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has condemned Iran’s missile attack on Israel. “Australia condemns Iran’s missile attack on Israel. This is an extremely dangerous escalation – Australia and the global community have been clear in our calls for de-escalation,” Mr Albanese said in a post on X. “Further hostilities put civilians at risk. We are monitoring the situation closely and encourage Australians in Israel to follow the advice of local authorities.” Mr Albanese’s remarks come after Iran launched almost 200 ballistic missiles into Israel in response to the IDF’s killing of senior Hezbollah and Hamas leaders. Israel’s Iron Dome defence system was able to intercept most missiles – however, some were able to get through and land near Tel Aviv.
