The fall of Iran’s greatest Arab ally in the region, Bashar Al-Assad capped off a disastrous year that saw Iran’s proxy forces diminished that further fueled domestic and economic unrest. Kamran Matin, an international relations scholar from Sussex University in the UK told the Eye for Iran podcast that 2025 will likely be an even more difficult year for the Islamic Republic.
