Fair Work Commission gives go-ahead on wage increases for Aged Care workers

The Fair Work Commission has ruled in favour of wage increases for thousands of Aged Care workers. The panel determined workers in direct care roles deserved higher pay rises than the 15 per cent increase given in 2022. Personal carers will see wage increases of between 18 and 28 per cent, while home carers will receive increases of around 16 to 25 per cent. The Prime Minister has backed Fair Work's decision despite concerns the decision could lead to higher inflation. Economists warn the $3 billion injection could place wage pressures on other sectors.
