Fall in Australian dollar placing ‘pressure’ on RBA rate decision

EQ Economics chief economist Warren Hogan says the drop in the Australian dollar may reflect “pressure” on the Reserve Bank to cut rates. The Aussie dollar has been falling for several months and is now trading close to five-year lows. This is pushing up the relative price of imported goods in Australia, which puts upwards pressure on inflation.
