Fatima Hall Of Achievement Honours 17 For Excellence, Including Two Women
The Fatima Hall of Achievement pays tribute to individuals who have shaped the educational institution and continues to inspire future generations. Seventeen individuals were honoured, including two women for the first time. President of Fatima Old Boys' Association, Christian Flemming, stated that the honorees embody the ideals of excellence, leadership and service - attributes that are at the heart of what Fatima College stands for. Board Member of the Holy Ghost Fathers Board of Management, Dwight Andrews, described the Fatima Hall of Achievement as a living archive of triumph, and a repository of inspiration for generations to come. He noted that the educational institution's goal is more than just educating minds, but to ignite spirits and inspire purpose. "The Hall represents, importantly, the results of living by our motto, Nitendo Vinces, as it immortalises the exceptional accomplishments of our alumni community while reflecting the enduring values and virtues instilled at Fatima College. Tonight's inductees are exemplars in these ideals. Their achievements are a clarion call to the current and future students to pursue excellence with unyielding determination." Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Ayanna Gaspard-Clarke, emphasised the important role that a strong, stable community, through education, has on the development of young people in society. She commended their tradition dedicated to honouring those who inspire generations. "These are the kinds of initiatives that help to create the ideal Trinidad and Tobago citizen, those that embody the positive values, attitudes, and beliefs that we wish to see in our young men. Ladies and gentlemen, education bears a profound and dynamic responsibility to serve as one of the key centrepieces in addressing the pressing challenges that confront our nation, including the upsurge of violence that is becoming quite a trend." The honorees were categorised under the spheres of Education, Religion, Public Service, Business, Sport, Culture and Pioneers. Among them are Professor Sanjay Bahadoorsingh, Daphne Haywood, Father Gregory Augustine, Jeanette Zakour-Elias, Anton Corneal, Dr. Colin Parris, and Geoff Seyon.
