As the investigation unfolds, the FBI has provided an update on the terrorist attack that left 14 dead and dozens of others injured in New Orleans on New Year's Day. The agency says It is looking to past visits to New Orleans, Egypt and Canada by the suspect, who rammed into a crowd of revellers with a white Ford F-150 truck before engaging in a shootout with police and being shot dead. “Our agents are getting answers as to where he went, who he met with, and how those trips may or may not tie into his actions here in our city,” special agent in charge Lyonel Myrthil said during a press conference on Sunday. The assailant, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, was a former U.S. Army veteran and had pledged allegiance to the Islamic State extremist group. Along with firearms and explosive devices, police found an ISIS flag in Jabbar’s rented vehicle. The FBI believe he acted alone. Locals, family and friends in the Louisiana capital have been paying their respects to their loved ones and victims at a makeshift memorial on Bourbon St., where the brutal attack happened.
