FBI releases videos taken by New Orleans suspected attack
On Sunday (January 5), the FBI released video taken by the suspect in the New Year's Day attack which he recorded with Meta glasses during previous visits to the French Quarter, the neighborhood in New Orleans, the FBI told media. Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a U.S. Army veteran aged 42 who had pledged allegiance to the Islamic State extremist group, wore Meta glasses during at least two trips to New Orleans in the months prior to the attack, one in October and the other in November, the FBI said. The suspect stayed in a rental home in New Orleans during that time, the FBI said, adding he recorded videos with Meta glasses traveling through the French Quarter, the neighborhood in New Orleans where the attack occurred on Bourbon Street. Jabbar is the suspect in the attack that killed 14 people when a truck rammed into a crowd of revelers, and the FBI says he acted alone. He was killed in a shootout with police after the rampage, which also injured dozens of people and has been labeled by the FBI as an act of terrorism. The FBI also said is looking into Jabbar's past visits to Egypt and Canada. The New Orleans coroner's office has identified all 14 deceased victims, among whom the youngest was aged 18 and the oldest was 63. Most were in their 20s. -Report from Reuters Subscribe to the ABS-CBN News channel! - http://bit.ly/TheABSCBNNews Watch full episodes on iWantTFC for FREE here: http://iwanttfc.com Visit our website at http://news.abs-cbn.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/abscbnNEWS Twitter: https://twitter.com/abscbnnews Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/abscbnnews
