Fears of recession if RBA raise rates

Economists believe there is a 50 per cent chance of a recession if the Reserve Bank is forced to raise interest rates. The warning comes on the eve of $23 billion dollars in annual tax cuts, which will flow into the economy from next week. There is a 40 per cent chance interest rates may be hiked in August after inflation came in above market expectations at four per cent this week.
