Federal reserve cuts: Interest rates lowered by quarter of a point
The US Federal Reserve has cut interest rates by a quarter of a point, just two days after the presidential election. Polls show that high inflation was a major factor in voters backing Donald Trump. The central bank’s efforts to lower inflation, stabilise employment, and avert a recession appear to be working – but the chair told reporters he knows Americans don’t agree.
