Ferocious winds, hail cause widespread damage in southern Alberta

Parts of southern Alberta were pummeled by ferocious winds and hail over the weekend, as a vicious summer storm swept through the area. The storm caused widespread damage in the town of Nanton, where the punishing winds toppled trees and terrified residents. “All of a sudden it just hit like nothing we’ve ever seen before. The intensity of the wind, the rain and the hail all at once,” said Nanton mayor Jennifer Handley. Global’s Carolyn Kury de Castillo has more on the damage and the clean-up efforts now underway.
