Field event-only meet set for CP

The third edition of the Joseph Payne Memorial Secondary Schools Field Events Circuit will be held at one facility this year instead of the traditional two venues. The one-day competition is set for December 11 at Coleridge and Parry. Organiser and Chairman of CW Foundation Inc - Charles Walcott - is hoping for an increase in participants. Each school is allowed to enter two athletes per event per category, and Mr. Walcott is calling on physical education teachers to encourage more students to get involved in field events. The event has the full backing of the National Sports Council, and Deputy Director Emerson Bascombe, believes it's only a matter of time before a local star athlete will emerge from the field events.
