Fiery high-speed Tesla crash kills at least 4, injures 1: Toronto police

Toronto police say an investigation is underway after four people were killed and a fifth was seriously injured in a fiery Tesla crash. The suspected high-speed electric vehicle collided with a concrete pillar downtown just after midnight on Thursday, erupting in flames. “The standards aren't there to match these vehicles being made, it is the wild west out there,” said Randy Narine, a firefighter and lithium-ion researcher with the Clean Energy Safety and Training Council of Canada. According to Duty Insp. Phillip Sinclair, there were five people inside the car — three men and two women in their 20s and 30s. Sinclair said four of them died at the scene while the fifth was pulled out and expected to survive. Global’s Sean O'Shea reports.
