FIFTY-FOUR RECRUITS AT THE ST. LUCIA FIRE SERVICE ADVANCED TO FIREFIGHTING INSTRUCTION THIS WEEK AFTER MASTERING EMERGENCY MEDICAL RESPONSE SKILLS IN DECEMBER. EMERGENCY SERVICES HAVE BEEN UNDER PRESSURE WITH OVER 14,000 CALLS IN 2024. AUTHORITIES ARE TAKING STEPS TO INCREASE CAPACITY AND CAPABILITY. THE THREE-MONTH INTENSIVE COURSE WILL EQUIP THE TRAINEES WITH SKILLS IN VEHICLE EXTRICATION, FIRE SUPPRESSION, AND RESCUE OPERATIONS, CRITICAL COMPONENTS OF AN EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS STRATEGY.
