Efforts continued on Friday to extinguish the largest forest fire that has occurred in recent years in Ecuador. Crews from Peru helped join the efforts to put out the flames, according to Ecuador's Risk Authority. The fire has been burning for eight days and adverse weather conditions such as high temperatures and strong winds have worsened the situation, officials said. Two helicopters and two airplanes from Peru were joining the effort to quell the fire in the high hill area where it has not been possible to control the fire. Between January 1 and August 28, forest fires burned some 13,200 hectares in Ecuador, while 14 wildfires are still active, according to official reports. #EcuadorForestFire, #Wildfires, #Firefighters, #EnvironmentalDisaster, #ConservationEfforts, #AmazonRainforest, #Deforestation, #ClimateChange, #NaturalDisaster, #EmergencyResponse, #FireManagement, #EcologicalDamage, #HabitatDestruction, #PrayForEcuador, #StopDeforestation, #ActOnClimate Subscribe to India Today for NEW VIDEOS EVERY DAY and make sure to enable Push Notifications so you'll never miss a new video.
