FIRST LADY TO SPEARHEAD PROMOTION OF WOMEN’S HEALTH AND STRENGTHENING THE FAMILY

An inter-ministerial task force for the implementation of the Institute for Women's Health (IWH) Protego Women's Optimal Health and Education Frameworks, has agreed to create a standalone programme or project to promote women's health and strengthen the family in Uganda. This will be coordinated by the Office of the First Lady. Key players from institutions related to women's health and family strengthening were in attendance. These included representatives from the Health, Education, Ethics and Integrity, and Gender Labour and Social Development Ministries. launched globally in February 2023, The Protego programme will focus on improving the quality of education, public health, and social development interventions for women, girls and families. The Office of the First Lady will implement the programme in collaboration with government ministries, the Washington D.C.-based Institute for Women's Health, and other like-minded stakeholders.
