Farmers in India's Bihar state tried to save what they could of their rice crop after it suffered extensive damage from flooding. Farmer Kishan Kumar told a reporter he took out a loan of 100,000 rupees ($1,190 approx) to invest in his rice paddy, but would "not earn a single penny as the floods washed away everything" Rice requires consistent irrigation and partial flooding to grow, but flash flooding has seen harvests destroyed. Data from state officials showed around 1.8 million people in Bihar have been affected by the flooding. The state weather office forecast further rainfall and potential thunderstorms over the next few days. - Report from Reuters
