Former AFL boss tipped as next chair for Racing Victoria

Former AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan could be named Victorian chairman of a sporting organisation once again rivalling one of Peter V’landys’ New South Wales positions. After serving as AFL CEO from 2014 to 2023, Mr McLachlan is expecting to be the next chairman of Racing Victoria. The ex-footy boss has been widely tipped to take the role and formally applied to be a director in April. As a director, he would then require approval from the Racing Minister to become chairman. The Racing Victoria chairman role has been vacant since June 2023.
