Former Premier League footballer, Mikheil Kavelashvil, named as Georgia’s president
A former Manchester City footballer has been appointed president of Georgia amid heightening tensions over the country's relationship with Russia. Mikheil Kavelashvil was elected a member of parliament for the Georgian Dream party in 2016. He co-founded a splinter group called People’s Power in 2022. But protesters gathered outside Tbilisi's parliament building over the parties pro-Russian and anti-western position. Journalist Tornike Mandaria has more.
