Former Secret Service agent calls for potential ‘transformation’ of the agency

Former Secret Service special agent Charles Marino has highlighted a “failure in leadership” from the federal agency and called for it to undergo a thorough review and potential transformation. Mr Marino referred to the two failed assassination attempts on former president Donald Trump, saying it showed a failure in the overall security plan of the Secret Service. “They have failed to apply the proper resources that are necessary,” he told Sky News host Gabriella Power. “They have failed to recognise the significance of the threat level towards the former president well in advance to these attempts taking place and I can tell you that the feeling is, including my own, is that it is time for the agency to overgo a thorough review and, if necessary, a thorough transformation.”
