Former transport minister S Iswaran pleads guilty, convicted on five counts

Sentencing for S Iswaran has been adjourned to Oct 3 and his bail has been extended. The former transport minister was convicted on five counts on Tuesday (Sep 24) at Singapore’s High Court, after pleading guilty to lesser charges of obtaining gifts as a public servant and obstructing justice. 30 charges will be taken into consideration for sentencing. The turn of events came as a surprise after the 62-year-old had said he would contest his case at trial to clear his name.
