France's Prime Minister Michel Barnier has resigned after losing a vote of no confidence in parliament this week. Mr Barnier and his government will remain in a caretaker role until a new leader is nominated. He is the shortest-serving prime minister in modern French history, having held the position for just under three months. Five names are in the running for the role as President Emmanuel Macron searches for Mr Barnier's replacement.
