Freeland rules out ending Parliament session as Liberals fight to survive

Canada’s Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland said Tuesday the federal government continues to negotiate with opposition parties in a bid to avoid an election. But even as the government says talks are ongoing with the Bloc Quebecois and the New Democrats, the NDP has poured cold water on that idea and says negotiations aren’t occurring. The minority Liberals need the support of at least one other party to survive a non-confidence vote or pass any legislation. But while the government fights for its survival, Freeland has ruled out proroguing Parliament. Mackenzie Gray reports from Ottawa.
