Paralympic cyclists said in a press conference on Monday (September 2) that they hoped the Paris Games would leave a legacy that would go beyond encouraging interest in the competition. France's Marie Patouillet said that she was proud of the opening ceremony but said she hoped the 2024 Paralympics will bring greater inclusion. "I hope that beyond the visibility of the Paralympic community, we will also have a great legacy in terms of inclusion in the sporting community," the cyclist said at a press conference. British cyclist Sarah Storey said that she thought that it was key for the Games to make a mark on accessibility in Paris long after the competition's end. “I think the part of the legacy that is really challenging, is the legacy for society, the legacy for accessibility for disabled people and how they can access their very best performance in whichever part of life they exist," she said. The Paralympics kicked off with an opening ceremony in central Paris on August 28 and continue for 12 days, with more than 4,000 athletes from around the world competing. -Report from Reuters
