A last-ditch effort to try and overturn Labor’s decision to ban a new gold mine in NSW continues to mount. Shadow Environment Minister Jonathon Duniam joined Sky News host Chris Kenny to discuss calls to reverse Labor’s blocking of the $1 billion Blayney gold mine. The Regis Resources gold mine had previously received state and federal approvals, before Ms Plibersek abruptly halted the development in August. “We won't give up because the right thing that needs to be done here, it is in the national interests to allow this mine to proceed,” Mr Duniam told Sky News host Chris Kenny. “Labor calls itself the friend of the worker they want to have a future made in Australia, yet they have these spurious and in the minds of some fabricated claims on indigenous cultural heritage as a basis for blocking a mine that have full state and full federal environmental and planning approval. “It is the wrong decision, and that's why we gave senators an opportunity with our disallowance motion to overturn the decision.”
