Criminologist in the Attorney General's Office Kim Ramsay has highlighted the social exclusion and community neglect of young people which makes them vulnerable to the crime bosses in Barbados. She was speaking at a lecture titled, "The Changing Face of Crime, Are Our Communities Safe", during which she talked about how some leaders in the criminal underworld are mentoring the younger generation. In her address, she stressed that the loyalty some young people have to criminal leaders, causes them to feel obligated to do crime. Ms. Ramsay contended that to counter this, good role models are needed. She called on law-abiding adults to step forward and mentor the youth, to help them choose to do the right and lawful thing.
