GARBAGE MANAGEMENT IN THE CITY: KCCA NEW LANDFILL PROCUREMENT HANGS IN A BALANCE
The National Forestry Authority has halted the land procurement process by the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) meant for waste management in the city. With the process at its tail end, the National Forestry Authority says, the land procured is in a forest reserve and therefore the title should be cancelled by Uganda Land Commission. This has created a rift between the two authorities and the owner of the land. Kampala Capital City Authority acquired a 230 acre piece of land in Nazziri Buyale Muduuma Mawokota in Mpigi district to help alleviate the issue of waste generated in the city. Our reporter Justine Nakami has been closely following the events surrounding the transactions of the land in question and filed this report.
