Calgary Flames fans gathered on the front steps of the Scotiabank Saddledome on Wednesday night as the team held a candlelight vigil for their Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew. On Aug. 29, the Gaudreau brothers were cycling on a road near their hometown in New Jersey when they were both killed by an alleged drunk driver. Chants of “Johnny, Johnny” broke out in the crowd on Wednesday as Flames players, their families and organizational staff came out onto the steps wearing No. 13 Gaudreau jerseys. “Johnny always had a smile on his face, on and off the ice. I’m going to miss that smile. I’m going to miss Johnny chirping me about everything like always loved to do,” said Mikael Backlund, sharing memories of Gaudreau on behalf of the other players. Craig Momney has more on the emotional tribute to the two brothers.
