Gaza's Deir el-Balah schools shelter 65,000 displaced amid severe shortages and worsening condi
For 14 months, central Gaza schools have housed displaced Palestinians, with shelters severely overcrowded. UNRWA’s Louise Wateridge highlighted dire conditions in Deir el-Balah, where 65,000 people rely on limited resources. Clean drinking water is unavailable, and supplies like blankets, food, and medical essentials are nearly depleted. An 85-year-old woman survives on bread, while malnourished children receive only basic vitamins. Disease spreads rapidly in unsanitary shelters plagued by pests. With 70% of medical supplies gone and rising displacements, Gaza faces a humanitarian crisis of inhumane proportions. Al Jazeera's Hani Mahmoud reports from Deir el-Balah in central Gaza.
