Germany’s Chancellor Olaf Scholz updates media on suspected terror attack

Germany’s Chancellor Olaf Scholz has addressed the media to provide an update on the ongoing investigation into a suspected terror attack in the central east German city of Magdeburg. Five civilians have now been confirmed dead and hundreds injured after a car ploughed into a Christmas market. Authorities believe they have identified their suspect as a fifty-year-old man from Saudi Arabia. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has also shared a statement to X. “Horrific news from the Magdeburg Christmas market in Germany. My thoughts and those of all Australians are with the victims," Mr Albanese said.
