Gisele Pelicot applauded at court after she testifies in mass abuse trial

Supporters showered Frenchwoman Gisele Pelicot, the victim of an alleged mass rape orchestrated by her husband, with applause and gave her flowers as she exited the courtroom on Wednesday (October 23), after taking the stand to testify in the trial. Pelicot was allegedly drugged and raped by dozens of men recruited by her husband, Dominique Pelicot. Gisele Pelicot insisted on a public trial in an attempt to expose her former husband and the 50 men he is accused of inviting to rape her in a small village in southern France.
