Investigators say the suspect was hiding in the area of Trump’s Florida golf course for 12 hours before a Secret Service agent spotted a rifle and opened fire. 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh was arrested without incident and investigators say he did not fire a shot at Trump, but was carrying a loaded rifle with a scope. Jackson Proskow has more. MPs are back in action in Ottawa, returning to a parliament where the power dynamics of the minority government have changed. Now that the NDP have broken up with the Liberals, the Conservatives hope to trigger a non-confidence motion and an election as soon as possible, and the Liberals are sharpening their attacks. Former vice-admiral Haydn Edmundson on Monday was found not guilty of sexual assault and committing an indecent act, concluding a trial that began in February. Edmundson was the head of Canada's Armed Forces (CAF) personnel in 2021, when he was accused of assaulting another member of the navy during a 1991 deployment. A small group in the audience gasped when the verdict was read, and Edmundson shook his lawyer’s hand. Mercedes Stephenson has more. Some of the final words from the crew of the ill-fated Titan submersible, which imploded off the coast of Newfoundland and Labrador last June, were revealed in a public hearing on Monday. Presented by the U.S. Coast Guard alongside a re-creation of the doomed expedition, the hearing is expected to last two weeks and will examine the causes of the June 2023 implosion that instantly killed five people on board. “All good here,” was among the Titan’s final responses. Heidi Petracek reports. There are two federal byelections underway Monday, one in Winnipeg and the other in Montreal. Both are a test for all the party’s but especially for the federal Liberals and Leader Justin Trudeau. The Montreal riding of LaSalle-Emard Verdun, which has long been a Liberal stronghold, is up for grabs since former justice minister David Lametti resigned. As Mike Armstrong reports, the riding is very much in play. And finally, Canada's Terry Fox proved with his Marathon of Hope in 1980 that anything can be possible if you set your mind to it. His determination to raise money for cancer research is now celebrated all over the world. And all these years later, his influence and the example that he set are still as powerful as ever. Eric Sorensen has the story of a memorial to Fox in Ottawa.
