Not far from Montreal, in Quebec’s Kanesatake Mohawk Territory, a community is fighting illegal polluters to protect their waterways. They're saying the Quebec government has not done enough to stop illegal dumping of construction waste in their territory. To put pressure, they're training volunteers on how to stop and inspect dump trucks. Illegal dumping isn't just a problem there and as Mike Armstrong reports, there are often ties to organized criminals. A group representing nearly 100 of Canada's universities is warning of declining enrolment and revenue as Ottawa's crackdown on foreign students takes hold. As Mackenzie Gray reports, universities say the impacts are much worse than they had initially feared. About 400 people attended the New Brunswick Liberals campaign launch Sunday, as the party looks to harness discontent with Premier Blaine Higgs. Silas Brown reports. Experts say the Bank of Canada’s recent series of interest rate cuts is set to stir up some activity in a relatively sleepy housing market. The Bank of Canada lowered its key interest rate by 25 basis points on Wednesday and opened the door to bigger cuts if the economy slows more sharply in the months ahead. Anne Gaviola has the details. It's been roughly three years since a clash between housing advocates and police in Halifax over a controversial tent encampment for people experiencing homelessness.
