Shadow Finance Minister Jane Hume says the “one little bit of good news” out of the Labor government’s reshuffle is that the Minister for the Republic role has “gone by the wayside”. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has unveiled Labor’s new frontbench, dumping Clare O’Neil and Andrew Giles from the home affairs, cyber security and immigration portfolios and replacing them with Tony Burke. “There’s one little bit of good news that’s come out of this reshuffle, and that’s that this mission-critical role of Minister for the Republic has gone by the wayside,” Ms Hume told Sky News Australia. “Matt Thistlethwaite has been moved on to another role.”
