Gov't focusing on protecting workers
Minister of Labour, Social Security and the Third Sector, Colin Jordan in the face of mounting concerns has stood in defence of the Labour Clauses Concessions Act 2024 brought by Government. He say they are protecting workers. He described the bill as a framework piece of legislation that allows Government to shape the minimum terms and conditions of work for businesses operating in sectors receiving concessions. Mr. Jordan says in discussions with the hotel sector, it became clear there was a need to go beyond just having meetings and no progress. Mr. Jordan says while they receive complaints from workers, decent businesses are also complaining.
