Minister of the Environment and National Beautification Adrian "Medic" Forde has given the assurance Government is doing all to ensure the safe and environmentally sound removal of the sargassum from the island's beaches. Mr. Forde also says the reason for the use of manual labour is to not disturb the many nesting grounds of turtles, as it is important to protect all marine life. But according to the Sargassum Sub-Regional Outlook Bulletin, from April until the end of July, there will be an abundance of sargassum across the Central Atlantic, which will impact the eastern Caribbean. It is hoped that the seaweed will dissipate come August.
