Government ‘not understanding’ the basic housing ‘supply and demand issue’

Ray White AKG Group CEO Avi Khan says Australia “can’t afford” for landlords to start leaving the marketplace because it would make the housing crisis “worse”. “I think it’s a basic supply and demand issue that the government is not understanding at the moment,” he told Sky News Australia. “And indeed, most policymakers are not understanding that if we put more cost on landlords, they’re going to leave.” This comes as the threat of changes to negative gearing is already getting investors nervous.
