Government to set up a Jackie Opel Legacy Lab

Cultural artistes on the island stand to benefit as Government announces plans to set up a Jackie Opel Legacy Lab as it plays its part in ensuring the legacy of the creator of Spouge lives on. The announcement was made by Minister in the Prime Minister's Office with Responsibility for Culture, Senator Dr. Shantal Munro-Knight during a Jackie Opel Concert in Golden Square Freedom Park as the Season of Emancipation came to a close. The programme is set to be launched next week. Senator Munro-Knight provided insight into how the initiative will work. Senator Munro-Knight, meanwhile, expressed confidence the Season of Emancipation has assisted in building national consciousness. She says significant dates important to Barbados' history and future were commemorated during the period.
