Govt has 'questions to answer' over $200,000 pay increase for incoming Governor-General

Nationals Senator Matt Canavan questions how the government can “justify” the incoming Governor-General’s pay increase. The Albanese government has proposed a pay rise for the incoming Governor-General - $200,000 more than her predecessor. “The government has some questions to answer here,” Mr Canavan told Sky News Australia. “It certainly doesn’t pass the pub test. “While people are struggling to stay in their own homes, pay their bills I don’t know how we can justify such a large increase to one official.”
