Growing confusion over Coalition’s divestiture plan

There’s been growing confusion over what the Coalition is proposing to do to bring insurance premiums down. This comes after the Coalition appeared to back down on its threat to break up big insurance companies to improve competition less than a month after it announced plans to do so. Shadow Treasurer Angus Taylor seemingly took insurance divestiture off the table while at a Financial Review summit but later walked that back. On Monday, Deputy Liberal leader Sussan Ley was campaigning in western Sydney when she appeared to take the plan off the table again.
