Guidelines needed for inclusive & sustainable development
With the rapid advances in technology, Barbados is pressing for guidelines to be implemented to ensure the vulnerable are not disadvantaged. Minister of Labour, Social Security and the Third Sector, Colin Jordan says there must be a harnessing of new and emerging technologies to assist in inclusive, equitable and sustainable development. His comments came during a Strategic Dialogue with Co-Facilitators of the World Summit for Social Development at the ongoing 112th Session of the International Labour Conference in Geneva, Switzerland. Mr. Jordan told the forum reforms in the international financial system must be intensified if SIDS are to achieve national development that is human centred. Meanwhile, Executive Director of the Barbados Employers Confederation Sheena Mayers-Granville in her address says the social development envisaged through the sustainable development goals (SDGs) can't be achieved without the inclusion of businesses.
