A Kenyan high court ruled last week against a plan to send 1000 police officers to assist Haitian security forces combat street violence overtaking parts of the country. But on Tuesday, January 30, Kenya’s President William Ruto told Reuters that his country is going to push forward with the long anticipated plan to bolster security in the beleaguered country. Ruto said he was confident the Kenya court’s request for a “reciprocal arrangement” with Haiti’s government would be fulfilled, and that the mission could start as early as next week. The assistance cannot come fast enough for Haiti. Gang members have resorted to the act of rape to assert their dominance on parts of the population. See what’s happening.
