‘He was the guy’: Ron DeSantis ends presidential campaign

Sky News Washington Correspondent Anneliese Nielsen says Ron DeSantis was “the guy” at the start of the presidential race as he announces the suspension of his campaign. He made the announcement in a video posted to social media platform X (formerly Twitter). Ms Nielsen says the New Hampshire primaries “might just change the race”. “There’s more moderate voters in New Hampshire and there’s more independent voters that are likely to go Nikki Haley’s way. “This could be the first time that we see Donald Trump lose momentum in this campaign.” Following his suspension, the Florida Governor endorsed Donald Trump, saying he is “superior” to US incumbent Joe Biden. Support for Ron DeSantis had slumped to just 6 per cent, below the 10 per cent minimum needed to win delegates in New Hampshire.
