HEALTH OFFICIALS IN ST. LUCIA ARE ON HIGH ALERT, FOLLOWING THE CONFIRMATION OF TWO CASES OF OROPOUCHE VIRUS IN BARBADOS. A REPORTED 11,634 CONFIRMED CASES BETWEEN JANUARY 1 AND NOVEMBER 25 HAVE BEEN REPORTED IN THE REGION OF THE AMERICAS, WITH THE CULPRIT IDENTIFIED AS PESKY MIDGES (SMALL FLIES) AND CULEX MOSQUITOES. NOW, A MESSAGE OF PREVENTION AND A CALL FOR VIGILANCE IS GOING OUT TO THE SAINT LUCIAN PUBLIC.
