Health Services Amendment Bill examined
Barbados has been advised proper legislation is required for the Environmental Protection Department (EPA). The matter was highlighted during a Joint Select Committee Session on the Social Sector and the Environment on the Health Services Amendment Bill 2024. Further insight was also provided into the role and functions of the EPD. Attorney-at-law, Christine Toppin-Allahar says everyone is doing their best even with the current deficiencies. Meanwhile, the Barbados Bar Association says the Health Services Act has served Barbados, having been enacted in the late 1960s and amended several times. However, President Kaye Williams queried if the time is not right for reform or further amendments to the Act, to meet the needs of modern Barbados.
