More than six million Australians across 38 national private hospitals will be impacted after hospital operator Healthscope announced its plans to terminate contracts with private health insurers. The companies include Bupa and the Australian Health Services Alliance. The two companies allegedly refused to pay a hospital facility fee which covers the gap between health insurance payouts and the cost of hospital care. Private Healthcare Australia has accused Healthscope of alleged bullying and being unethical.
